The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the commencement of registration for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series.

In a statement shared on its verified X account on Friday, WAEC revealed that prospective candidates can now purchase registration pins at WAEC offices, accredited banks, designated registration centres, or through authorised agents for a fee of ₦27,000.

“Registration for WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2025-First Series has commenced. Candidates can purchase the registration pins at any WAEC office, banks, registration centres, or accredited agents for ₦27,000 only,” the tweet read.

Candidates are required to complete their registration via WAEC’s official portal at http://waeconline.org.ng.

The WASSCE for Private Candidates, commonly referred to as the General Certificate Examination (GCE), is a platform for private candidates to earn their secondary school certification. Unlike the standard WASSCE for school candidates, the private examination does not require uniforms. However, biometric registration remains a mandatory step in the process, ensuring secure and accurate identification.

WAEC urged all prospective candidates to register early and ensure they meet all the requirements for the examination.
