Senator Austin Akobundu, representing the Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has congratulated Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her reappointment as Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

In his congratulatory message, Akobundu hailed Okonjo-Iweala’s unopposed reelection as “a significant expression of confidence placed in her by stakeholders of this leading global organisation,” emphasising that she has consistently served as a role model not only in Nigeria but worldwide.

He further praised her professional expertise and leadership skills, which she demonstrated while serving as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, noting that her long-standing dedication has earned her international recognition.

“I am confident that she will continue to bring pride to Abia Central and Nigeria as a whole in all her pursuits and remain a mentor to the youth. On behalf of the people of Abia Central, I extend my heartfelt congratulations once again and wish her every success in her future endeavours,” the statement concluded.
