The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has officially expelled Ali Odefa, the suspended National Vice Chairman of the party in the Southeast, over allegations of anti-party activities.

Odefa’s expulsion, announced during a press conference on Wednesday evening, follows his earlier suspension by the ward executives on September 11, 2024. The Federal High Court in Abakaliki had also upheld his suspension on November 29, 2024.

Speaking at the press briefing, Onyeka Ovuta, the Acting Chairman of Oguduokwor PDP, stated that the decision to expel Odefa was based on the findings and recommendations of the party’s Ward Disciplinary Committee. Ovuta explained that the committee had thoroughly investigated the allegations and found them credible, prompting the ward executives to act in accordance with the PDP’s constitution.

“With this expulsion, Ali Odefa ceases to be a member of the Peoples Democratic Party,” Ovuta declared, emphasizing that the decision aligns with the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and internal order.

The expulsion marks the latest development in the ongoing internal crisis within the PDP, particularly in Ebonyi State, as the party seeks to address issues of loyalty and adherence to its principles.
