The Ebira Community of Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, under the banner of the Ebira Vonya Association, hosted its annual end-of-year celebration, fostering unity and cultural pride among its members. The event, held at the hospital, was graced by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Isah Yahaya Adagiri, who served as the father of the day.
In his address, Prof. Adagiri applauded the association for promoting unity and harmonious working relationships among Ebira staff. He urged them to continue fostering these values, which are essential for both personal and professional growth.
Reflecting on the previous year’s gathering, Prof. Adagiri recalled the association’s endorsement of His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo for the governorship of Kogi State. He expressed gratitude to God for Governor Ododo’s electoral victory and the resolution of post-election legal battles, describing it as a testament to divine intervention.
The CMD also noted the challenges faced by the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, whom he described as the architect of modern Kogi State. Prof. Adagiri highlighted the political challenges and persecution faced by the former governor but acknowledged God’s favor in his recent bail, which he termed a triumph over adversity. “God is not a man and rewards faithfully,” he stated.
Prof. Adagiri praised Governor Ododo for his inclusive governance, emphasizing the significant appointments of Ebira individuals under his administration. He highlighted the elevation of two hospital staff members to chief executive officers of health agencies in the state and the appointment of two others as Special Assistants to the Governor.
In a solemn moment, Prof. Adagiri condoled with the family of a hospital staff member who passed away during the year, offering prayers for his eternal rest. He reiterated his commitment to running an inclusive administration that aligns with the vision of the Consolidation Government of His Excellency Governor Ododo.
The event was attended by the hospital’s Directors of Administration, Accounting and Finance, Nursing Services alongside other dignitaries.
The celebration’s highlight included an interactive session among association members and captivating performances of Ebira Tao and Ebira Koto cultural dances, which added color and vibrancy to the occasion.
The gathering concluded with renewed pledges of unity, cultural heritage preservation, and collective progress for the Ebira Community at the hospital.
