The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of plunging the state into a financial crisis through alleged massive debts and wasteful spending.

At a media briefing in Osogbo on Monday, the opposition party claimed that the Adeleke administration had secretly secured loans running into several billions of Naira, raising concerns over the governor’s financial management of the state.

Kola Olabisi, APC’s Director of Media and Information, alleged that the loans were being acquired to fund Adeleke’s 2026 gubernatorial campaign. He further accused the governor of misusing the state’s limited resources by prioritizing his personal comfort and that of other unproductive politicians around him.

Olabisi also boldly predicted that the governor would be removed from office in 2026, asserting that the APC would regain control of the state.

However, the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, quickly dismissed the allegations, labeling them as “fake news.” Rasheed denied the claims of secret loans, asserting that the APC’s accusations were baseless.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has been focusing on his administration’s 2025 budget. On Monday, he signed the budget, which he described as the “Budget of Growth and Sustainable Development,” at the Exco Lounge in the Governor’s Office. The House of Assembly had passed the bill with an additional N37 billion, bringing the total amount to N390 billion.

In a statement, Governor Adeleke commended the House and his cabinet members for their efforts in ensuring a comprehensive budget. He directed the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget, and Development to oversee its implementation and ensure that all targets and expectations are met.

Adeleke reassured Osun residents that the 2025 budget would be rigorously executed to meet the state’s developmental needs.
