Lagos govt seals churches, hotels over noise pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken decisive action against establishments flouting environmental regulations, sealing several facilities across the state for persistent noise pollution and other violations that pose risks to public health and safety.

The enforcement exercise, which targeted various locations including Shomolu, Victoria Island, Lekki, and Ajah, affected churches, hotels, lounges, and restaurants found guilty of breaching environmental laws.

Among the establishments sealed by LASEPA are:

1. Celestial Church

2. Zodiac Lounge

4. The Lord’s Chosen Church

5. Sneakers Suites & Bar

6. Wimpy Hotel

7. SBL Hotels

8. Handsworth Hotel

9. Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church

10. West Syde Exclusive Hotel & Suites

11. Kobis Restaurant

The agency emphasized that these actions were necessary to curb the growing menace of noise pollution and environmental degradation, which have become a major concern for residents. LASEPA reiterated its commitment to ensuring compliance with state regulations, warning that establishments found violating these laws will face strict penalties.
