British Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has once again stirred controversy with her remarks about Nigeria, this time recounting a troubling experience with the Nigerian police.

In an interview with The Free Press that began trending on Saturday, Badenoch was asked whether she trusted the British police. Her response drew a stark comparison between her experiences in Nigeria and the UK.

“I do,” Badenoch stated. “My experience with the police in Nigeria was very negative, and coming to the UK, my first experience with the police was very positive. The police in Nigeria would rob us.”

She went on to detail a personal incident, claiming, “I remember the police stealing my brother’s shoes and his watch. It’s a very poor country, so people do all sorts of things.”

Badenoch’s comments have sparked widespread reactions online, with some Nigerians expressing outrage over her remarks, while others pointed to the need for reform in the Nigerian policing system.

This isn’t the first time Badenoch has made headlines for her statements about Nigeria, often sparking debate about her perspectives on the country of her birth.
