Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo has approved the sum of N316m as Bursary for 8750 indigent students studying in various tertiary institution of learning in the country.
The bursery announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, today in Lokoja at the presentation of a complimentary cheque of N5m to one Miss Favour Oluwatimilayo Toyin Adebayo in his office.
the bursery winner, Miss Favour Oluwatimilayo is a Kogi State indigene studying in Poland on scholarship who won a scholarship through an exchange programme while studying at the Nasarawa State University
According to the Commisssioner for Education, the government of Governor Ododo is poised towards supporting students to achieve their academic pursuits.
While the undergraduate students are to recieve N30,000, a total of 201 law students of Kogi origin studying in various law schools will receive the law bursary sum of N300, 000 each, totaling N60.3 million.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, noted that the state government is dedicated to ensuring every Kogi student achieves academic success and become self reliant in the society.
He consequently enjoined students and youths to be good ambassadors of the state and country in general, adding that the government places high premium on building their capacities to take up leadership roles in the future.
