The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially installed Prince Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Lawal as the Oba of Isheri Olofin Kingdom. The installation ceremony, which took place at Isheri in Egbe-Idimu, followed the unanimous agreement of the ruling houses and the governor’s approval in line with the Lagos State Obas and Chiefs Law.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert, called on the newly installed Oba to extend a hand of friendship to his contemporaries and subjects. He emphasized the importance of unity and synergy in achieving lasting development and prosperity for the kingdom.
According to thecompodium reporter Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the Ilumorr Royal Family and the Olanwa Ruling House of Isheri-Olofin Kingdom for their unity during the selection process. He urged residents, stakeholders, and all sons and daughters of the kingdom to rally around the new monarch, assuring them of the state government’s commitment to supporting development projects that meet the needs of the community.
In his acceptance speech, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Lawal, expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his leadership and commitment to progress in the state. He pledged to align his reign with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus agenda of the state government and called on community members to work together to promote development, growth, and peaceful coexistence in the Isheri-Olofin Kingdom.
Dignitaries at the event included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, and the Executive Chairman of Egbe-Idimu LCDA, Hon. Kunle Sanyaolu Olowoopejo.
Also present were notable traditional rulers, including the Onigando of Igando, HRM Oba Lasisi Gbadamosi; the Oniba of Iba Kingdom, Oba Sulaimon Raji Ashade; the Elegbeda of Egbeda, Oba Hammed Orelope Laka; the Oba of Akesan, Oba Najeedeem Abidemi Aberejo; the Oba of Ipaja, Oba Kolawole Ajani Egundupe; the Oba of Shasha, Oba Nasiru Ogunronbi; and the Oba of Orisunbare, Oba Akeeb Adebowale Azeez Dada-Ota.
Other prominent community leaders, religious bodies, and stakeholders also graced the occasion, marking the dawn of a new era for the Isheri Olofin Kingdom.
