On Wednesday, armed assailants abducted and fatally shot Alhaji Bako Bala, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area, Kebbi State. Bala was kidnapped in his hometown and later discovered seriously injured. He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, but succumbed to his injuries later that day. His burial was conducted according to Islamic rites.
In a related incident in April, gunmen believed to be bandits killed two individuals, including Saidu Basa, the APC Chairman for the Mai Dabino community in Katsina State. Basa was attacked while returning from an APC stakeholders meeting in Danmusa after giving a lift to a passenger heading to the market. Both victims were also buried according to Islamic customs.
